Meet Remy: Our New Organic Cotton Percale Sheets

Better days start with better nights, say hello to Remy
Our NEW organic cotton percale sheets
There are so many buzz words out there when it comes to sheets. You can read about thread count, check what they are made of and look at the pictures but that doesn’t always mean quality. That is why, when we introduced our new Remy organic cotton percale sheets in store, we found ourselves saying the same thing again and again:
They are 400 thread count, but don’t count them. You have to feel them.
Remy is woven from beautiful organic cotton to create a sheet that is soft, smooth, breathable and cool to the touch. It has the freshness people love about cotton percale, but without the overly stiff or crunchy feeling sometimes associated with crisp sheets.
It is lightweight without feeling flimsy, polished without being shiny and relaxed enough to suit the way we actually make our beds at home. If you can’t make it into store, we will do our best here to give you as much detail so you can feel confident in your purchase online.
We spend a third of our lives in bed, yet often settle for synthetic, chemically finished fabrics that don't breathe well.
Remy organic sheets are naturally breathable, soften beautifully over time, and create a more comfortable sleep environment. We all need our 7-8 hours of interrupted sleep
Why we created Remy
We spend a lot of time talking to people about sheets.
Some customers come in knowing exactly what they want. Others know only what they do not want.
They do not want a sheet that feels slippery. They do not want something so thick it becomes heavy during the night. They do not want bedding that looks perfect in the packet but feels disappointing on the bed.
Increasingly, customers are also looking for natural fibres and want to understand more about what their bedding is made from. They want cotton that feels breathable, comfortable and lovely against the skin, but they do not necessarily want the very crisp, substantial feel of traditional commercial cotton.
We created Remy to sit beautifully in that space.
It is for the person who wants a lighter and softer cotton sheet with a smooth handle and a relaxed finish. It feels refined but not precious, and it is comfortable enough to use every night rather than save it just for the guest room.
We also wanted customers to have more control over how they bought their bed linen.
Not everyone uses a top sheet. Some people want four pillowcases. Some need a fresh fitted sheet long before the rest of the set needs replacing. Others simply want to combine two colours rather than make the entire bed in one shade.
That is why Remy is available both as a complete bundle and as individual separates. You can buy the whole set at once or build a bed that suits the way you actually sleep.
Most people carefully choose skincare but don’t consider what their skin is pressed against all night. Organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides and processed with fewer harsh chemicals than conventional cotton making it much kinder on your skin and a companion to your skincare products.
What are Remy sheets?
Remy is our new range of 100% organic cotton percale bedding.
The sheets have a 400 thread count and a soft, breathable finish. They are cool and smooth to the touch, with a relaxed appearance that looks at home in both a neatly tailored bedroom and a softer, more casually layered one.
The range includes:
fitted sheets
flat sheets
pillowcases
complete sheet bundles
matching quilt covers
Remy sheets are available in Queen, King and Super King.
Cotton and Percale, what are they and what does it mean?
A common misunderstanding when buying sheets is that cotton and percale are competing materials. They are not.
Cotton is the fibre, percale is the way the fibre has been woven. Take this fun fact to the next dinner party.
Pecale uses a plain weave, creating a smooth fabric with a slightly crisp and clean feel and a matte appearance. It feels lighter and fresher than a sateen. As always every percale doesn’t feel the same and when it comes to Remy it sits at the softer end of the percale family. As it is cotton it still has that breathable feel but its softer and liest rigid then other sheets on the market.
What do Remy sheets feel like?
Remy feels cool when you first touch it.
The fabric is soft and smooth, but it does not have the glossy or slippery surface of sateen. There is enough body to remind you that you are sleeping in good cotton, but it remains lightweight and easy against the skin.
The best way to describe it is soft, fresh and relaxed.
Cotton is naturally breathable and can absorb moisture before allowing it to evaporate, helping create a cooler and drier feeling around the body. The weave also affects this experience, which is why percale is so often chosen by people who prefer fresh, breathable bedding. It helps with the 3am sweats and that whiching hour wake up call.
Why Remy is sold separately
We are firm believers that a fitted sheet should not be allowed to take an otherwise perfectly good set down with it.
Fitted sheets often work harder than the other pieces on the bed. They sit under the body, experience regular friction and are held firmly around the mattress. In many households, they show signs of wear before the flat sheet or pillowcases.
Buying sheet separates means that when one piece eventually needs replacing, you can replace that piece alone.
It also gives you more freedom from the beginning.
Perhaps you never use a flat sheet. Perhaps you would like an extra pair of pillowcases. Perhaps you want an Ivory fitted sheet, a Mist flat sheet and Blush pillowcases rather than one matching colour from top to bottom.
Remy allows you to buy:
only the pieces you need
extra pillowcases
replacement fitted or flat sheets
different colours to mix together
It is a more practical way to build a bed and, we think, a more enjoyable one.
The Remy sheet bundle
For people who do want the complete set, the Remy bundle keeps things simple.
Each bundle includes one fitted sheet, one flat sheet and two pillowcases. It gives you everything needed to make the bed in one colour, without having to add each piece individually.
The bundles are available in Queen, King and Super King.
You can then add extra pillowcases or a matching quilt cover, or introduce another colour as the seasons change.
Remy or Actil: which sheet should you choose?
There is room in the linen press for more than one kind of cotton sheet.
Actil and Remy are both made for customers who value proper cotton, but they offer quite different experiences.
Actil First Line has the familiar, substantial character long-time Actil customers recognise. It has a clean cotton feel and more traditional structure.
Actil Commercial is firmer and crisper again, designed for durability and customers who appreciate a robust sheet that relaxes with repeated washing.
Remy is lighter, softer and smoother from the beginning. It has a more relaxed finish and is likely to suit someone who wants the freshness of cotton percale without the pronounced crispness of a commercial sheet.

Remy has quickly become a favourite in store because it does not require a lengthy explanation once you touch it.
The cotton feels smooth. The percale feels fresh. The fabric is light without seeming insubstantial, and the colours are soft enough to work in real bedrooms.
It is made from 100% organic cotton, woven in a breathable percale and finished with the relaxed character we wanted from the beginning.
You can buy a complete bundle, choose individual separates or add a matching quilt cover. A good sheet does not need an outrageous thread count or a long list of promises.
Sometimes you simply have to feel it.
